Trout in their natural environment are generally quite well camouflaged and unless they move can be quite hard to spot.

The dappled effect of caustics from moving ripples on the water also helps break up their outline. Although the effect is only obvious when the sun is out it probably does help reduce their chances of being spotted by a predator. |
