The continuing eruption of Mount Pinatubo had filled the upper atmosphere with dust. |
As the normal sunset ended the effect of this high dust took over, giving the sunset an unusual purple colour. |

This image shows just a portion of the sky. To have the whole sky filled with this colour was an amazing sight. |
Much later than usual the sunset ended with this intense red, unlike any I've seen before. |
