Halo and Corona

An even layer of cirrus produced a fine 22 degree halo while a small cumulus cloud conveniently masked the sun. Through the thinner parts of cloud part of a corona can be seen, along with the solar disc.

I wasn't the only one to find this particular cloud useful, a few minutes later a pair of gliders used the updraught to gain some extra height.

The huge range in brightness makes it difficult to record both corona and halo well. However the low cloud was just the right density to allow the solar disc to be recorded too.
