Iridescent cloud isn't always colourful or close to the sun. The delicately tinted clouds at the top were some 15 degrees above the setting sun. |

Their shape hints that they might be freshly formed and suitable for interference effects. Closer examination shows the pastel greens and magenta typical of weak iridescence far from the sun. |

Within their broad lenticular shape the clouds showed a wave pattern with another smaller wave pattern superimposed at a different angle. |
