Cloud just outside the corona shows strong iridescence with metallic hues close to the sun shield. Even with the area round the sun blocked out eye protection was still necessary. |
Fine structure in the cloud gives a very complex pattern of colours.

A good 20 degrees from the sun and the iridescence was not as strong, but the colour differences were still quite distinct. A distrail cuts into the cloud at at lower right. |
The iridescence is visible as green and purple patches within the recently formed cloud. The pastel hues here are typical of iridescence far from the sun. |
