This was a very colourful sundog, all the more interesting because the section of 22 degree halo to its right was also quite bright. |

A wider view showing other contrails. The break in the contrail is probably because the patch of virga had dried out the air around it. |

After a couple of minutes the slow drift of the cirrus relative to the sundog is obvious. |

As the cirrus drifts it becomes clear the sundog is in the virga not the contrail. |

Part of the sundog's white tail is missing because of the gap in the cloud. The section of 22 degree halo is visible but fading now. |
