Bright Morning Sundog

This was a very colourful sundog, all the more interesting because the section of 22 degree halo to its right was also quite bright.

A wider view showing other contrails. The break in the contrail is probably because the patch of virga had dried out the air around it.

After a couple of minutes the slow drift of the cirrus relative to the sundog is obvious.

As the cirrus drifts it becomes clear the sundog is in the virga not the contrail.

Part of the sundog's white tail is missing because of the gap in the cloud. The section of 22 degree halo is visible but fading now.
