Noctilucent Clouds - 4th July 2008

This early morning patch of noctilucent cloud was quite distinct to the eye. The sun was 10.6 degrees below the horizon for this first image, far too early for normal cloud to be lit up.

There was a hint of reddening twilight by this stage, but the brightness and colour of the clouds confirmed they weren't cirrus.

The distinctive wavy features were much easier to pick out in binoculars.

A very light fog was forming over the fields which added to the atmosphere.
