Noctilucent Clouds - 14th July 2006

The long streak on the right was a very striking feature and seemed to form the edge of the main area of cloud. Capella shines brightly at lower right.
21:45 UT, sun 10.2 degrees below the horizon.

The fine wavy structure and bluish tint were a very distinctive feature of this section of cloud. Unfortunately it disappeared into shadow quite quickly.
21:53 UT, sun 10.9 degrees below the horizon.

The two large patches of wavy cloud appear to be associated though they show quite different tints. Presumably the blue tint shows up because the upper section is closer to the edge of the shadow and the sky background above it is darker.
21:50 UT, sun 10.6 degrees below the horizon.

High cloud far to the north still catches the sunlight, though the lower sections are reddened by the longer path through the atmosphere. In spite of the low altitude some fine structure is still visible.
22:08 UT sun 12.0 degrees below the horizon.
